Boyd Carpenter Scholarship Awarded  

Tera Zeigler, a Salem High School graduate, has been chosen as the 2007 recipient of the $4,000, four-year Boyd Carpenter Scholarship, presented by First National Banking Company.

Tera, the daughter Randy and Clara Zeigler of Glencoe, ranks number one in a class of 54, has a grade point average of 4.08 and has been active in many of the extracurricular activities of the school.

Some of Tera’s activities include: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FCCLA, Varsity Softball, Student Government, Senior Class Secretary, Quiz Bowl – 2004 Captain, 2006-2007 Beta Club Secretary. 

Honors and awards that Tera has received include Beta Club awards in Biology, English, Geography, AP U.S. History, Algebra I, Life Science, Earth Science, and Communications. 

Tera is an active member and leader in her church and has been a Sunday school teacher since 2005. She has also been employed at the Fulton County Hospital in addition to helping on the family farm.

Tera plans to attend University of Central Arkansas with a major in writing and a minor in history.

An outside committee that included a resident from Izard, Fulton, and Sharp Counties, made up the selection committee for the scholarship.  The committee reviewed all applications, and interviewed the top nine applicants.

First National Banking Company offers the scholarship each year to a high school graduating student. This is the 24th year the scholarship has been sponsored by the bank.
