The Boyd Carpenter Scholarship, sponsored by First National Banking Company will be awarded to a graduating senior from Sharp, Fulton, or Izard County who plans to attend college and seek a four-year degree. The Board of Directors of First National Banking Company established and began sponsoring this annual scholarship in 1984 to recognize an outstanding student and assist that student toward his or her goal of a college education. The scholarship will be awarded through a two-phase process. The first phase will place emphasis on academics, extracurricular activities and employment. The second phase will be based upon the applicant's interview with the judging committee which will be made up of individuals from the different counties in the area.
First National Banking Company
will provide $500.00 per semester for four years or a total of $4,000.00 to
the winner. Interested students may obtain an application from their school
counselor. The application deadline date is noon, March 23, 2007.
First Time Home Buyers may get extra help from FNBC First National Banking Company was recently approved for grant money to help first time home buyers with the mortgage process. According to Anita Owens, FNBC’s vice president – mortgage lending, first time home buyers must meet a few requirements to be qualified for the grant money. “We know many families and individuals in our area want an opportunity to own their own home. The extra funds available through our grant will allow us to help fulfill the dream of home ownership,” said Owens. “Homebuyers must meet certain income requirements as well as other criteria to be eligible.” Once the first time home buyer contributes $500, they would be eligible to receive up to a 4:1 matching grant to help with the down payment or closing cost. Interested homebuyers may get more details by stopping by FNBC’s new mortgage division inside the Highland branch or visit any of FNBC’s locations and ask for the loan department. Batterton and Guiltner Promoted Two First National Banking Company (FNBC) employees earned promotions recently, according to Martin Carpenter, Chairman and CEO at FNBC. Dana Batterton is now Chief Risk Officer and Rebekah Guiltner is Internal Auditor for FNBC.
Batterton began her career with FNBC in 1998. While at FNBC she has held positions as compliance officer and vice president internal auditor. “Dana has been a real asset to our team at FNBC. We’re proud of her accomplishments and her capabilities.” Batterton’s primary duties will be the implementation of Enterprise Risk Management throughout the bank. Batterton received a bachelor’s degree in Math and Statistics from UALR in Little Rock and is a Certified Bank Auditor (CBA) and Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM). Batterton and her husband, Kelly, have two sons, Derek, age 17 and Tyler, age 13. They reside in Salem and attend the Salem Church of Christ. Guiltner started in 2000 in the Note department and moved to the audit department as an audit assistant. She received her certification from ICBA as a Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor in 2006. Guilter and her husband, Wayne, have two sons, Gavin, age 4 and Hank, age 2.
